UPDATE ONE: The issues affecting Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger appear to have been resolved.
Down Detector reports of issues with the social networks have fallen sharply, while users on Twitter have reported the services working for them again.
ORIGINAL: Facebook down, WhatsApp down and Instagram down reports are all flooding in right now as a big outage has hit the services.
Independent outage monitor Down Detector has received a surge of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram down reports.
Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram users are reporting a total blackout with connection and login problems all hitting users.
As the Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram problems hit users took to rival social networking site Twitter.
One posted: “The amount of times Facebook goes down is quite a joke to be honest. #facebookdown”.
Another wrote: “Is @WhatsApp down I’m trying to send a screenshot to my friends in a group chat and it’s not sending it’s just loading”.
One added: “Is Instagram site down? Nothing loads, not even links on twitter.”
And another tweeted: “Walking onto Twitter to see that it’s not just me who has their #instagramdown and #facebookdown”.
The Down Detector outage map says the Facebook issues are mainly affecting users in the UK, while the WhatsApp and Instagram issues are affecting users in the UK, US and Europe.
According to Down Detector stats, 77 per cent of affected Facebook users are experiencing a total blackout.
While 21 per cent are having login issues with the social networking giant’s services.
At the peak of the outage, Down Detector registered almost 3,500 Facebook down reports.
