Orange is the New Black season 7: Piper’s fate revealed in OITNB trailer?

Netflix viewers have a very special treat this July as the final series of Orange is the New Black is released. The Orange is the New Black season seven trailer was released today (Wednesday, June 26) and it reveals what will happen to characters like Piper Chapman (played by Taylor Schilling) in the final series of the Netflix show. Schilling has also revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly what fate her character will have in OITNB season seven.

Is Piper’s fate revealed in the Orange is the New Black trailer?

The Orange is the New Black season seven trailer sees Piper living back in the real world for the first time since her arrest.

Unlike other characters like Taystee (Danielle Brooks), who left the prison only to reoffend in order to be sent back to the life she knew, it seems that Piper will remain out of the prison for the full final series.

The trailer does not show her in a prison uniform, suggesting she will not be back inside.

That does not mean, however, that she will not be back to see her former prison friends.

WHO IS TAYLOR SCHILLING’S GIRLFRIEND?

In the promo, she is seen visiting wife Alex Vause (Laura Prepon) in prison, with the pair seen on either side of a plastic screen.

In fact, Schilling revealed to EW that the relationship between Piper and Alex and how it is affected by one being in prison and one being out is a major plot point of OITNB series seven.

She said: “That’s really what gets dealt with in the season. I think that ends up being what is explored most.

“Piper really realises that Alex is fundamentally a part of her journey.

“That’s the choice that Piper is making, that Alex’s love is very important to her.”

WHO ARE THE REAL LIFE COUPLES OF ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK?

The Orange is the New Black trailer reveals that missing Alex is not the only thing Piper has to deal with in the last ever season of the Netflix hit.

She is seen struggling to deal with the monotony of everyday life and the condescending way people treat her as a felon.

In one scene, for example, she is seen taking part in an archery class when someone asks her: “You’re allowed to hold a weapon, right?”

Meanwhile, in the voiceover of the preview, she says: “I recently got out of federal prison and I’m trying to get back on my feet. Now, this is my life.”

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK SEASON 6 ENDING EXPLAINED

Schilling told EW: “She’s beginning to navigate what it’s like to live in the civilian world again, and learning that freedom doesn’t come immediately when she steps outside of prison.

“She becomes a little bit bolder expressing what she wants rather than trying to fit in and make it about other people.”

What the trailer did not reveal, however, is whether she will encounter ex-partner Larry (Jason Biggs) in the outside world – surely a more horrifying prospect than any prison shivving.

She will, however, see Sophia (Laverne Cox) in the outside world, who is seen giving Piper a haircut in the trailer.

Orange is the New Black season 7 airs in July on Netflix.
