July Community Day Pokemon Go update: Shiny Mudkip and Summer time change

The July Community Day for Pokemon Go has been confirmed to include Mudkip, which means a new shiny to hunt down too.

Each month, developers Niantic hosts a celebration for Pokemon Go Trainers that includes a limited time event.

This would be the Community Day, which actually only lasts three hours.

But while it doesn’t run for a long time, it does provide fans with some top rewards, including new shiny Pokemon to catch.

The July Community Day has been confirmed to include Pokemon Go’s Mudkip as the star.

This means that not only will Trainers be able to encounter Shiny Mudkips, but they will also be able to unlock a special move for its final evolution.

This exclusive move hasn’t been announced yet but will no doubt only be available to Trainers who evolve a Swampert during the event.

What fans don’t appear to be happy with is the changing of the Community Day hours for July.

This is probably being done to combat the heat of Summer but it means a change in schedule for some.

“I get no timeframe will please everyone but…ugh. IDK why but this seems so much later than the 3-6 one,” one Pokemon Go Trainer writes.

“Sunday 3-6 we had food in the crockpot to return home to, but going till 7, then driving home…hmmph.

Another adds: “Exactly. when it was 2-5 it was decent for dinner plans especially on a Sunday night (more so if you have kids), 3-6 made it harder but we planned with leftovers.

“Not getting home till after 7 on a school night sucks. I know it won’t ever work for everyone so long as community DAY is 3 hours.”

The July Pokemon Go Community Day is being held on Sunday, July 21, 2019, and running for three hours.

In a slight change to the schedule, the CD will commence at 4pm local time and end at 7pm local time.

“This doesn’t work for people in the Southern hemisphere. Cape Town sunset is before 6pm at the moment, so we’ll be enjoying community day in the dark, unless they decide to stop the event halfway through like they did with Slakoth.”

On top of the special move for Mudkip and the chance of catching a Shiny Pokemon, Trainers can also expect 3x Catch Stardust during the CD hours.

Here’s more from the Pokemon Company, who posted today: “July’s Pokémon GO Community Day will feature Mudkip, the final starter Pokémon from the Hoenn region to be featured.

“Community Days will take place during the evening beginning with July to help you keep cool as you search for Pokémon this summer. This month’s event will happen on Sunday, July 21, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time.

“Mudkip will appear much more frequently in the wild during this time, and if you’re lucky, you might even find a Shiny Mudkip!

“If you evolve Marshtomp (the evolved form of Mudkip) into Swampert during the event or up to one hour afterwards, the Swampert will know a move it can’t normally learn!

“Plus, Lure Modules will last for three hours and you’ll earn triple the normal XP for catching Pokémon during the Community Day event.”
