Avengers Endgame rerelease: What is the new footage in Avengers Endgame extended cut?

Avengers: Endgame has its eyes on the Avatar box office record. In fact, Endgame has already surpassed Avatar’s original box office takings, before the James Cameron sci-fi epic had its own rerelease. Now Endgame will follow suit, coming to cinemas again with much more new footage. With the extended cut of Endgame, Marvel clearly has beating Avatar in its sights.

What is the new Avengers: Endgame footage in the extended cut?

Warning: potential spoilers for the never before seen footage in the rerelease.

According to MCU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad, the new footage includes two scenes.

The first is a tribute to the late Stan Lee, the auteur of many Marvel characters.

Conrad wrote: “This week’s rerelease of Avengers: Endgame will include will be a new deleted scene that plays after the credits, which features the Hulk.

AVENGERS ENDGAME SHOCK: IT’S NOT FANS’ FAVOURITE MARVEL MOVIE

“It’s not the Kathrine Langford scene that many were hoping to see (which hopefully will show up on the Blu-ray), but rather a Hulk scene that fits more as a post-credit thing than the older Morgan Stark would.

“Some showings will include an introduction by the Russo Brothers as well.

“In addition to the scene and the Stan Lee tribute, there will be a short tease for Spider-Man: Far From Home.”

For those not able to make it to the cinema for the extended cut, there’s nothing to fret.

These scenes will also likely appear on the Blu-ray edition of Avengers: Endgame when it is released.

As of writing, Avengers Endgame is only £27.8m ($38m) away from surpassing Avatar’s total gross at the box office.

The rerelease is not, strictly speaking, an extended director’s cut.

The Russo Brothers told ScreenRant: “Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theatres with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie.

AVENGERS ENDGAME: THAT THOR TWIST IS A ‘HUMAN RESPONSE TO TRAUMA’

“If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.”

Fans are hoping the rerelease is enough to push Avengers: Endgame into the number one spot at the box office.

The extra footage brings Avengers: Endgame up to 188 minutes, or three hours and eight minutes.

Cineworld revealed to Express.co.uk fans can book tickets from around 6pm on Tuesday evening.
