Melania Trump savaged for boasting about helping children everywhere – 'Is she for real?'

The First Lady gushed over new expansions in her Be Best campaign on Monday but some were not impressed. Her announcement came on the same day a doctor spoke out about the appalling conditions immigrant children are living in at detention facilities. One paediatrician labelled the Texas centres as “torture facilities”, ABC News reported.

As people are reeling at the news, Melania wrote on Twitter: “Looking forward to collaborating with all of our Be Best Ambassadors.

“Delighted to be working alongside so many people both inside and outside of government to better the lives of children everywhere!”

Twitter users were quick to hit out at the First Lady for being “out of touch”.

One said: “Is she for real?”

While another added: “I hear it improves children’s lives not to be held in concentration camps.”

A third person said: “How many toothbrushes, soap and blankets can buy if you sell a pair of Louboutins.”

Actor George Takei also joined in and accused Melania of “trolling us”.

Melania has announced 21 new Be Best ambassadors to help with the campaign of educating children and parents about the issues they face.

The news came just a day before Melania lost her closest aide in the White House.

Stephanie Grisham was the official spokeswoman for Melania but has since left the East Wing to be US President Donald Trump’s press secretary.

Melania said on Twitter: “I am pleased to announce Stephanie Grisham will be the next Press secretary and Communications Director!

“I can think of no better person to serve the Administration and our country. Excited to have Stephanie working for both sides of the White House.”
