Galaxy Note 10 could be worse than the Galaxy Note 9 for two reasons

Galaxy Note 10 is anticipated to be the name of Samsung’s next flagship phablet that has been rumoured to be unveiled in August.

The hardware has been tipped to come in two different sizes which, if true, would represent a huge break in Samsung tradition for the product series.

South Korean outlet ETNews has insisted one flavour of the Note 10 will boast a 6.28-inch panel while the other will come with a humungous 6.75-inch display.

The larger of the two handsets has been rumoured to be called the Note 10 Pro.

Alleged renders of the Note 10 Pro recently surfaced courtesy of OnLeaks and Pricebaba; the phone was displayed with an all-screen design on its front and a small, circular, cutout within the display itself to expose a single front-facing camera.

Unlike the S10 series though, the Note 10’s hole punch was showcased in the middle of the device at the top rather than off to the side.

The claimed images also showed the product with a total of four cameras on its rear comprised of a primary, telephoto, ultra wide-angle and a time-of-flight (TOF) sensor.

The standard Note 10 was said to come without a TOF camera, limiting it to three rear lenses.

While Samsung’s next phablet has been rumoured to bring an impressive design and camera system to the table, it appears the device may be worse than its predecessor for two reasons.

First and foremost, both models of the Note 10 have been heavily speculated to come without a headphone jack.

The port was shown to be missing on the recent renders from OnLeaks and Pricebaba.

Such claims first emerged as early as October last year when South Korean outlet ETNews issued a report declaring the age-old port would be ousted.

It is currently unclear why Samsung is planning to scrap the jack; the firm’s S10 series of handsets all feature the socket.

Last year’s Note 9 also allows for owners to easily use wired headphones without an adaptor.

More recent murmurings have suggested the smaller Note 10 model could also come without a MicroSD card slot, too.

Max Weinbach, a host and writer for XDA Developers, recently revealed information from a source he claimed had recently “got to play” with a Note 10 and Note 10 Pro.

In a list detailing the phone’s features, he noted expandable storage will be limited to the Pro model of the phablet.

If true, this means the smaller Note 10 could be at yet another disadvantage to the Note 9 that supports up to 512GB of expandable memory.

CNET has claimed Samsung will launch the Galaxy Note 10 on August 7 at a “flashy” event in New York City, citing people “familiar” with the firm’s plans.
