Melania Trump takes style inspiration from Kate Middleton as she wears polka dot dress

When it comes to style, there’s no denying Melania Trump has got the eye. And this weekend was no different, as she supported her husband, President Donald Trump at the Congressional picnic to celebrate the start of summer. Dressed in a navy and white polka dot dress, the 49-year-old looked stunning as she greeted guests on the grounds of the White House. She teamed the knee length dress, which is from designer Gabriella Hearst, with a pair of white Christian Louboutin pumps in the style “so Kate” and wore a white belt around her waist to accentuate her figure.

She opted for light make up, and wore her brunette locks in soft waves.

“A memorable night on the South Lawn at the @WhiteHouse this evening,” she wrote in a post on Twitter, as she shared a series of photos from the event.

“Thank you to the members of Congress and their families who joined us for our traditional Congressional picnic celebrating the start of summer!”

Many chimed in on Melania’s most recent look on social media, as they praised her for her amazing fashion sense.

“Here is a gorgeous lady who make a fashion statement in Levi’s jeans and a Tee shirt or famous designer dresses! She can rock either!” One wrote.

“Lovely. She could bring anything into a current style trend,” another said. “Just lovely,” a third commented.

It looks like the mum-of-one may have been taking style inspiration from Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, as the polka dot number she wore was very similar to a dress worn by the British royal recently.

Last month, Kate wore a chic, navy polka dot dress by designer Alessandra Rich, during a visit to Bletchley Park’s special D-day exhibit to mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Like Melania, the 37-year-old teamed the stylish dress with a pair of court heels, opting for blue suede to match her dress, and carried a navy clutch.

Melania’s fashion choices have often been questioned by the public. Recently she was pictured wearing a dress covered in London landmarks ahead of Trump’s UK visit.

Fashion psychologist Dawnn Karen believes there could be a hidden message behind her outfit choices.

According to Ms Karen, Melania uses her looks to balance her husband’s comment, as with their recent trip to the UK.

Ahead of the UK visit, Trump had labelled Meghan Markle “nasty” and Melania had to balance without vocalising it, Ms Karen says.

Melania was reportedly trying to display “integrity” while wearing a white coat dress when meeting the Queen.

Analysing the outfit, Ms Karen told MirrorOnline: “She’s in a power-adjacent position, and like most women in that position she must dress to balance their masculine counterpart.

“I do believe that First Lady Melania must balance all of that, and how do you do that without vocalising, as such?

“So her wearing white – this white dress coat – is symbolic of integrity. I believe that is what she is trying to convey alongside the president.”
