Game of Thrones: The ONE thing George RR Martin would CHANGE in the books

Martin is the man behind the entire Game of Thrones phenomenon: his literary saga A Song of Ice and Fire inspired the TV series that became a global success.

The show ended its eight-season run last month, long after overtaking the storylines in ASOIAF.

Martin still has two novels left to write – The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring – but, in the meantime, fans may be interested to learn what one thing he would change in the existing tomes.

Speaking to Adrias News back in 2012, he was asked by the interview what he would tweak, with the benefit of hindsight.

“What would I like to change? Well, I might like to change the scene where Tyrion Lannister is first introduced,” he said.

“The scene where Tyrion jumps from the top of a gate; it isn’t possible.

“By then I had very few references about people of [his] condition and it was later when I came to know more extended details about his physical challenges.

“So that’s one of the things I would change.”

In the same interview, the author spoke about his method of writing when he deals with multiple first-person viewpoints.

“I do not write the chapters in the order you read them,” he admitted.

“Each of the point of view characters has its own voice and vocabulary. It’s difficult for me to shift from one to another, so I use to write consecutively two, three or four chapters of the same character.

“Then, I stop because I have gone too far or because I don’t know what will happen next.”

He added: “For me, changing from a Tyrion chapter to a Daenerys one, to put an example, is very exhausting. It demands a lot from me.”

Martin has said he expects to have published The Winds of Winter by summer 2020.

Before then, he’s picked up a major honour in New Jersey, and will be in the UK in August for a special event.

Yesterday fans on Reddit had one particular request for him in writing the remaining books – read it here.
