England bring in secret weapon Arjun Tendulkar on eve of Australia Cricket World Cup clash

Both England and Australia were training at Lord’s on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s match.

Aussie left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc is the joint leading wicket taker at the Cricket World Cup.

Starc has taken 15 wickets, level with England’s Jofra Archer and Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir.

And to prepare for facing Starc, England have been facing some left-arm pace bowling in the nets.

The son of India great Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun, who is a left-arm bowler, was drafted in to give the batsmen some practice.

Tendulkar, 19, has been plying his trade of late in the county Second XI Championship.

He has been playing for MCC Young Cricketers, where he took two wickets in the draw against Surrey’s second XI last week.

Fans were excited on social media as a video emerged of Tendulkar clean bowling Surrey opener Nathan Tilley.

One tweeted: “It’s just amazing… what an inswinger… left arm bowler bowling an inswinger to a RHB is very rare feat… Wasim Akram & Zaheer Khan used to do this… great going… waiting for you in Indian cricket.”

Another wrote: “Kid is smart. Knew he couldn’t be a better batsmen than his dad so became a better bowler than him.”

One supporter can see Tendulkar playing in the 2020 Indian Premier League.

“Debut for @mipaltan [Mumbai Indians] next season,” they put.

It was not the first time Tendulkar had bowled at the England batsmen, having done so back in 2015 aged just 15.

This week he did not get the chance to bowl at England opener Jason Roy.

Roy is still struggling with a torn hamstring and has been ruled out of the match against Australia.

England are currently fourth in the World Cup table and need a win following their shock defeat to Sri Lanka on Friday.

Australia are second having won five of their opening six matches.
