WWE Stomping Grounds: The two women that could referee Seth Rollins vs Baron Corbin

Stomping Grounds LIVE RESULTS

Baron Corbin has been allowed to pick the official for his Universal Championship Match against titleholder Seth Rollins following his loss at WWE Super ShowDown which he blamed on referee John Cone.

Corbin already holds an advantage but Rollins has tipped the scales in his favour by taking out many potential candidates who have been approached by the challenger about the role with a brutal attack.

Rumours suggest The Lone Wolf will ultimately choose Brock Lesnar as he has unfinished business with the Universal Champion and would be more than able to protect himself from a potential attack by the RAW superstar.

However, this won’t be a smart choice for the ex-RAW General Manager as Lesnar holds the Money in the Bank briefcase, which guarantees him a world title shot at any time and place he wishes within the next 11 months, and that means he could sabotage the fight.

Therefore, the WWE Universe may be set for a huge surprise – and based on the latest rumour mill the Special Guest Referee may not even be male.

According to WhatCulture, there is speculation that the mystery official will be NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler.

Baszler would be able to easily avoid an attack by Rollins due to the fact that WWE strictly prohibits intergender matches and she is also yet to join the main roster.

But if she crosses over from NXT then that could also start a feud with RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, who is the Universal Champion’s girlfriend.

Lynch picked up a decisive win over Lacey Evans at Stomping Grounds and looks set for new challenges.

However, The Man’s momentum looks to have slowed down ever since she won the first ever all-women’s WrestleMania main event where she defeated Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair.

Baszler would be the kind of opponent that could help her stand out again with a feud that would add in some much-needed interest in the women’s division.

The Queen of Spades is not yet done with NXT as she is still its Women’s Champion but other superstars have combined the main roster with the developmental brand before such as Kevin Owens, Ricochet, Aleister Black and more.

Another candidate for the referee’s role is Sasha Banks who hasn’t been seen in WWE TV since she and Bayley lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships to The IIconics at WrestleMania 35.

Rumours suggested that Banks was upset with the way the match was booked and even requested her release from the company.

However, The Boss seems to have denied the claims and has also started working towards an in-ring return as she took part in a WWE 2K20 shoot and also posted training videos as well as pictures on her Instagram.

Just like Baszler, the four-time women’s champion could use that angle to get into a feud with Lynch for the RAW Women’s Championship.
