Man Utd plotting two major transfers after James, Wan-Bissaka and Fernandes deals

Manchester United have endured a rocky transfer window so far, with James the only arrival.

The Wales international arrived from Championship outfit Swansea City last week in a £17million transfer but, now, the Red Devils are accelerating their plans on other players.

Express Sport understands Manchester United are set to wrap up a deal for Wan-Bissaka shortly, despite Crystal Palace previously holding firm.

And the Metro claim United want Sporting Lisbon star Fernandes to be their third signing of the window.

They also say, though, that the Portugal international may be followed by two more ‘major’ deals.

The rest of the Metro’s story is from Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha but their words on two more transfers are their own.

No names are mentioned but several players are understood to be on United’s radar ahead of the rest of the summer.

Leicester’s Harry Maguire is on their radar yet again, 12 months after the club failed to sign him from Leicester.

United also remain keen on PSG star Adrien Rabiot, who is also attracting interest from Serie A giants Juventus.

And the Red Devils are open to signing Mauro Icardi in a swap deal with Inter Milan that would see Romelu Lukaku move in the opposite direction.

United chief Ed Woodward, meanwhile, vowed to back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the transfer market.

He said last month: “After a turbulent season, everyone at Manchester United is focussed on building towards the success that this great club expects and our fans deserve.

“Preparations for the new season are underway.

“And the underlying strength of our business will allow us to support the manager and his team as we look to the future.”

While United are looking to strengthen, outgoings are also expected.

Matteo Darmian is closing in on a move to Valencia, with money from his sale going towards the Wan-Bissaka deal.

Paul Pogba wants to leave amid interest from Juventus and Real Madrid.

And, as mentioned above, Lukaku may be sold to Serie A giants Inter Milan.
