Holly Willoughby, 38, was joined by her co-presenter Phillip Schofield, 57, on This Morning where the pair took the time to read out messages from viewers who praised schoolteachers for their efforts in helping support their children’s educational needs. The blonde beauty made the surprising admission about her own time at school where she admitted she didn’t find out that she had dyslexia until much later. As the ITV favourites read out messages received from viewers, Phillip turned and asked Holly: “Have you got one?” To which she replied: “Yes, my teacher Miss Williamson – she was my English teacher.
“When I was at school, I didn’t find out I was dyslexic until a lot later. And she was always very good with me, spent lots of time with me. She was a wonderful, wonderful teacher.”
Dyslexia is a learning difficulty which affects 1 in 10 people in the UK according to the NHS and it causes problems with reading and writing.
Holly has been very open about the condition and opened up about her experience on This Morning with Martin Kemp who is also dyslexic and they discussed how he memorises scripts.
The small-screen star said: “You’re dyslexic and I’m dyslexic as well. You say the way you learn and the way you prepare for this is different to other people.”
She also revealed that she looks at the autocue in advance for any shows she is hosting and has special coloured scripts to assist her on This Morning.
Speaking to the Glasgow Sunday Post she spoke about her concerns for her children inheriting dyslexia.
She said: “Although my mum hasn’t been officially tested she has very similar tendencies to me. I don’t know whether that’s hereditary or not, but I do think about that.
“Schools are so much more advanced in looking out for it than when I was at school.”
Meanwhile, the mother-of-three recently took to Instagram to announce some exciting news.
In view of her 5.6 million Instagram followers, the This Morning presenter uploaded a snap of herself sporting one of her items but did not give a full view of the ensemble.
She captioned the post: “So excited to announce the launch of my new #Hollyloves edit with @marksandspencer … so many beautiful items and you can get them in store or online on the 18th of July.
“There’s even another Jumpsuit of dreams in the mix… will post pictures when I can reveal all!”
Fans and celebrity pals flocked to comment on the post, with many admitting they couldn’t wait for the latest collection to hit stores.
Presenter Kate Thornton said: “You had me at jumpsuit!!” while pal Davina McCall gushed: “Really love this picture of you.”
A fan commented: “Can’t wait to see it all.”
While another person added: “So gorgeous Holly! Good luck with your launch!”
