Gmail is getting its most dramatic redesign ever and fans are very happy

Gmail is Google’s email client that is used for personal and work purposes across the globe.

Since its debut back in 2004, the American tech giant has consistently updated it to bring new features and enhancements.

The latest upgrade for Gmail brings what is surely one of the most notable aesthetic changes to ever grace the software.

Android Police recently noticed the newest Gmail Android application package (APK) contains a dark mode for the programme, although it appeared to be incomplete.

The outlet noted the fresh view was “sporadic” and only presented itself in the Android app’s settings section.

Still, the publication did post screenshots of the feature in action to show fans what they can expect when it debuts in a full capacity.

The software was shown with a dark grey aesthetic that will surely be much easier on the eyes of users.

Text was shown to be white and other items, such as tick boxes, were exhibited in other colours such as blue.

Android Police noted there is not currently a switch to turn dark mode on or off within Gmail version 2019.06.09.

However, the latest iteration has seemingly confirmed Google is working on bringing the new feature to fans.

It is currently unknown when Gmail will receive a dark mode.

That has not stopped some fans expressing their excitement for the function on social media, though.

Reacting to the news, one said: “Dark mode everything already. Yaaaaaaas.”

Another tweeted: “Dark mode everything.”

A third declared: “Love dark mode.”

Such themes have become increasingly popular recently with Apple and Microsoft both offering dark modes for their respective macOS and Windows computer operating systems.

Apple’s iOS 13 and Google’s Android Q smartphone platforms are also braced to tout a dark mode when they release later this year, too.

It is worth noting the Mountain View company has gradually rolled out dark modes to some of its native Android apps.

Messages, Contacts and Phone are just some Google apps that support a black theme.
