Andy Murray calls Roger Federer lucky, sends Serena and Venus Williams Wimbledon request

The former world No 1 also admitted he would be open to playing mixed doubles with one of the Williams sisters at Wimbledon.

Murray backed up his doubles team-mate Lopez, who won both the singles and doubles titles at Queen’s Club today, showing incredible endurance for a 37-year-old.

The Spaniard would have become the oldest player to ever win a grass court event in the Open Era.

But Federer, one month older than Lopez, secured a 10th Halle Open title earlier in the day to break the record.

And Murray joked that Federer had fortune on his side.

“He is just lucky, Federer,” Murray told Amazon Prime.

Lopez was asked if he will try to get revenge by matching Federer’s 10 Halle titles at Queen’s.

“I think two should be enough,” he replied.

Murray was in good form during his lengthy interview with Amazon Prime as he asked Lopez if he would wear a skirt to join him in the Wimbledon mixed doubles.

The three-time Grand Slam champion is still searching for a female partner after being turned down by a host of stars.

It was put to Murray if he would like to play with Serena or Venus Williams – and he was open to the idea.

“I’d be up for that. They are both brilliant players,” Murray said.

“I don’t know whether they’d be up for playing, they are both very busy.

“They normally play doubles together and I also appreciate if you have aspirations to go very far in the singles it is difficult to commit to the whole event as well.”

Other obvious options would be Victoria Azarenka or Kiki Mladenovic.

“I got turned down by one of them,” Murray revealed. “That was Kiki Mladenovic, she said she couldn’t commit to playing three events either.

“I didn’t chat to Azarenka yet but I know she is playing singles and doubles. I feel a bit tight asking people. I want to make sure they want to play.”
