Piers Morgan: 'I feel sorry for his wife' Susanna Reid spills all on Life Stories host

Piers Morgan, 54, married journalist Celia Walden, 43, back in 2010 and the couple share a seven-year-old daughter together. His close friend and Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid, 48, made a cheeky quip about the Life Stories star in an interview with The Mirror’s Notebook Magazine. Asked how she would get on in a real-life marriage with her TV husband, Susanna joked: “I feel sorry for his wife Celia every day. I think she’s grateful that I have him in my care for a few hours in the morning, so she gets a break.”

Piers sounded equally as unimpressed with the hypothetical marriage, calling his presenting partner a “control freak” and saying: “It would be utter hell. Because I’m the opposite of that.

“As long as I’m in charge,” he added.

“It’s an arranged marriage without any of the good bits. I just get the nagging.”

Opening up on their co-hosts’ best and worst qualities, Susanna revealed: “Piers’ worst quality is that he will not stop talking, he takes up 95 per cent of the air time.

“When he starts unravelling on air, I wipe my hands of him.”

“The ratings have stratospherically soared since I did all the talking,” the Life Stories presenter chipped in. “So, what the public really want is more of me.”

“His best quality is he’s a Rottweiler and he won’t let go,” Susanna continued. “He will go on about a point until you get either an answer, or a disgraced politician.”

Piers, meanwhile, said of Susanna: “Her best and worst qualities are the same thing: that she’s a softie who likes a weep.”

“Basically, I have a heart and soul,” she replied.

The presenters have been working together on Good Morning Britain since former tabloid editor Piers joined the programme back in 2015, one year after Susanna moved over to ITV from BBC Breakfast.

Celia, meanwhile, previously spoke out about her marriage to Piers.

During an appearance on GMB last year, she was asked whether she was the one who wore the trousers in their relationship.

“Er, yes, I think so!” she replied. “I think women are always quietly in charge.

“I just think it’s best to let the men think that they are.”

Elsewhere, on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories tonight, the GMB star will be joined by his frenemy Lord Alan Sugar, 72.

Among the topics the pair cover are The Apprentice boss’ family life, with father-of-three Lord Sugar admitting he’s only ever changed “two or three” nappies.

Piers Morgan’s Life Stories airs tonight at 9.35pm on ITV.
