As P20 Pro prices plummet there's even better news for Huawei fans

P20 Pro was unwrapped by Huawei back in March last year; the hardware was the first of its kind to arrive with a triple camera system on its rear.

Moreover, the device also houses a huge 4,000mAh battery and boasts a gorgeous 6.1-inch OLED screen.

At launch, the P20 Pro was priced at £799 but has since crashed in value.

P20 Pro can now be picked up for just £449.99 on Amazon in what is easily the lowest price we have seen for the hardware at Express.co.uk.

Other UK retailers such as Argos and John Lewis are selling the Chinese handset for £500.

The low costs for a new P20 Pro will surely make it a very attractive proposition for Android fans.

This is especially true now Huawei has declared it expects the product to receive Android Q, the next substantial version of the Google operating system.

In a post on its consumer site, the Chinese tech giant confirmed “technical preparations and testing” for Q had begun for over 17 of its smartphones.

The P20 Pro was listed as one of them, alongside a number of other notable products such as the Mate 20 Pro and P30 Pro.

Huawei said: “We are confident that our most popular devices, including the P30 series, will be able to access Android Q.

“We have been working with third parties for many months to ensure devices will be able to receive Android Q updates.

“Technical preparations and testing has already begun for over 17 devices.

“In fact our Mate 20 Pro has already been given approval to receive Android Q as and when it is released by Google.”

Huawei’s announcement comes during a period of uncertainty for the firm and its fans due to an impending Android block from Google.

Last month the Trump administration put Huawei Technologies Co Ltd on a trade blacklist, introducing a number of restrictions with regard to how US firms are able to interact with it.

After this, Google soon suspended Huawei’s Android licence, creating a stream of uncertainty surrounding the future of updates for the firm’s devices.

Google’s Android block on Huawei has since been temporary lifted and will be put back in place on August 19.

Until the recent announcement from Huawei, it had been unclear if any of its products would be upgraded to Android 9 Pie.
