Amazon Echo alert – Why now could be a very bad time to buy this smart speaker

The smart speaker market has exploded in recent years and one of the best you can buy is the Amazon Echo.

This intelligent device has taken the world by storm with its Alexa assistant able to perform a swathe of useful tasks such as playing music, setting timers and even switching on your lights.

Its relatively low price has also helped boost the popularity of this device and Amazon has been pretty clever making sure there’s an Echo to suit all budgets.

However, if you are thinking of investing in an Echo now might be a very bad time.

Amazon always runs its huge Prime Day discounts in July and 2019 looks set to offer the same big offers.

Although Prime Day sees massive reductions across a huge amount of products it’s often Amazon’s own-brand devices that see some of the biggest savings.

Last year the whole family of Amazon smart speakers including the Echo Show, Spot and Dot were reduced in price and expect similar discounts in 2019.

There’s no official date for this year’s event but it’s expected to take place in mid-July with Amazon already launching a Prime Day holding page on its website.

When you visit this online section, customers currently see the message “Prime Day, coming soon”, but expect that to change in the coming weeks.

If you can’t wait until July there are a couple of discounts on the entry-level Echo Dot.

This speaker has been cut in price to £39.99 plus there’s an option to get one for 99p when you sign up to Amazon Music Unlimited.

This offer is available until Monday, June 24.
