Windows 10 is Microsoft’s computer operating system that is regularly granted new upgrades.
The American tech giant recently released the June cumulative updates for all supported versions of Windows 10 that boast a number of quality improvements.
However, the new software version also introduces an unexpected bug that causes a black screen to appear for users when starting up their machine.
Microsoft has declared such a problem is limited to “a small number of devices”.
Moreover, the tech giant stated it is “investigating” the reports of the issue.
The firm went on: “We are investigating reports that a small number of devices may startup to a black screen during the first logon after installing updates.”
Microsoft said this issue can be mitigated by restarting an affected computer.
The Redmond-based company explained: “To mitigate this issue, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, then select the Power button in the lower right corner of the screen and select Restart.
“Your device should now restart normally.”
It was also noted a permanent fix for the issue is also being worked on.
Microsoft said: “We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.”
The update described above was released on June 11.
Since then, the American tech powerhouse has released a further improvement for Windows 10 that debuted on June 18.
Unfortunately, Microsoft’s support page discussing the upgrade still notes the bug causing a black screen on startup for some computers remains.
It is unclear when a patch for this issue will be released for Windows 10 fans.
Those wanting to obtain the June cumulative updates should head Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates in order to do so.
