Mate 20 Pro update – New Huawei phone could borrow the OnePlus 7's best feature

Mate 20 Pro launched back in October and it is possible its successor will be shown to Android fans at around the same time of year in 2019.

Rumours surrounding the Mate 30 Pro have escalated recently with Chinese site IT Home showcasing alleged renders of the handset.

The claimed Mate 30 Pro was exhibited with a quartet of cameras on its rear in a rectangular housing.

Moreover, the device was also displayed with an all-screen design on its front with a pill-shaped cutout for two front-facing cameras.

IT Home has also been eager to discuss supposed specifications for Huawei’s next flagship.

The outlet declared the Mate 30 Pro will be powered by a new in-house chipset in the form of the Kirin 985.

Additionally, it was also stated a Balong 5000 modem would also be present under the hood of the handset, allowing it to deliver 5G network speeds.

Most importantly, it was declared the Mate 30 Pro will come with a 90Hz display, similar to what is already present on the OnePlus 7 Pro.

The OnePlus 7 Pro’s panel is easily its most appealing feature; the increased refresh rate means navigating across the device’s software feels incredibly smooth, as we noted in our full review of the device.

Technology Editor David Snelling said: “OnePlus has made some huge improvements to how you view things on this giant screen with this device now offering a 90Hz refresh rate.

“There’s very few gadgets that can match this display technology which provides a lag-free and super smooth look as you scroll through your content.”

For context, most smartphones on the market, such as the Mate 20 Pro, offer a 60Hz refresh rate.

While not laggy by any means, these panel certainly lack the smoothness delivered by OnePlus’ latest product.

If the supposed Mate 30 Pro also comes with a 90Hz panel, it could allow Huawei fans to experience such technology.

One of the biggest questions surrounding the Mate 30 Pro is what software it will run; Google’s impending Android block on the Chinese firm has left many wondering if Huawei will opt to have the expected flagship run proprietary software.

A recent report from the South China Morning Post has suggested Huawei has been working on its own mobile operating system for as many as seven years.

While rumours have been eager to discuss details of the Mate 30 Pro, it is worth noting nothing about such a device has been discussed by the Chinese firm.
