Kym Marsh: 'Don't you dare' Coronation Street star reveals warning to daughter's partner

Kym Marsh, 43, opened up about joining her daughter’s boyfriend, Mikey Hoszowskyj, 28, as a birthing partner when Emilie Cunliffe, 21, welcomed son Teddy Archie David Hoszowskyj at the beginning of last month. “It was an amazing experience and I’m so glad Emilie and Mikey asked me to be involved,” the Coronation Street actress told this week’s OK! Magazine. “Mikey and I were very much a tag team.” Kym went on to say she felt the need to issue a warning to Mikey at a crucial point during her daughter’s labour.

“Mikey started getting a bit tearful at one point and I said, ‘Don’t you dare cry,’” she said. “Because it was right towards the end when Emilie was in the most pain.

“I know it’s horrible to see someone you love in pain and it’s emotional as she was bringing his child into the world, but I knew at that moment in time Emilie needed us to be strong.”

Mikey, meanwhile, praised the ITV soap star for her part in the birth, saying: “Kym was the best co-birthing partner I could have wished for — she was a massive support.”

Kym went on to commend her daughter’s attitude throughout the birth of her first grandson.

“Her whole attitude was positive,” she told the publication.

“What was great was Emilie didn’t have a birthing plan but she was in a midwife-led unit.

“In that room there was a bed and a birthing pool, so she could choose. It felt very natural,” she explained.

Emilie ended up having a water birth, which she said helped with her pain.

“I was really pleased to have Mum there,” she said.

“She was rubbing my back and Mikey was feeding me gas and air. I felt like I was in a boxing match!”

Emilie also revealed she had included Archie in her son’s name as a tribute to her late brother.

Kym gave birth to son Archie in 2009, 18 weeks before her due date.

He tragically died just minutes after he was born.

Emilie told the publication she had kept the fact Archie was going to feature in her firstborn’s name a secret from her mother until his birth.

The Corrie star admitted she had burst into tears when she found out about the touching tribute.
