World Cup: Eoin Morgan smashes HUGE 91m six into media centre – ‘He’s a six machine today’

England captain Eoin Morgan scored a century during his innings against Afghanistan in the Cricket World Cup.

He hit 17 sixes during his time at the crease where he made 148 runs, including one mega strike that landed in the third tier of the stadium.

The 91m six came when England were 261-2 after 40.2 overs.

Morgan strode down the wicket, and hit Mohammed Nabi’s delivery straight back over his head.

The glorious shot was just one of a number of sixes by the England captain.

He became the tournament’s leading batter for sixes, taking most of his maximums today.

Morgan also recorded the second fastest ODI hundred by a captain in a World Cup.

The record is currently held by AB de Villiers, who posted 100 in 52 balls against the West Indies in 2015.

“Brilliant from Eoin Morgan,” said one fan on Twitter.

“Best innings I’ve ever seen him play. Six after six and massive chance to get 400 now.”

Another said: “Watching Morgan giving a batting masterclass today.”

A third fan wrote: “The fourth-fastest World Cup century! What a brute of an innings by Eoin Morgan.

“Unbelievable hitting. Fantastic power hitting.”

Former England captain Michael Vaughan also hailed the current skipper.

“What a display of striking,” he told BBC Sport’s Test Match Special.

“The consistency… Rashid Khan has gone for 96 in eight overs! There’s not many get hold of him.”

England will top the World Cup table if they beat Afghanistan at Old Trafford today.
