Michael Schumacher health: Wife gives hope in shock interview – ‘He’s a fighter’

Corinna Schumacher has praised her husband’s fighting spirit ahead of the release of a documentary about the seven-time F1 champion later this year. In the feature film titled ‘Schumacher’ close friends and family members will give a unique insight into his remarkable career and life following the horrific accident. Corinna said: “Michael is a fighter and will not give up.”

Schumacher suffered serious head injuries during a tragic skiing incident in the french Alps on December 29, 2013.

The German motor-racing star was placed in a medically induced coma for six months after the accident.

He was later transferred for further rehabilitation at the University of Lausanne before being moved to his home in Switzerland.

In a trailer for the documentary, former F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone also gave a rare update on Michael’s condition.

Mr Eccleston told German media: “He is not with us at this moment.

“But when he is better, he will answer all the questions.”

The Schumacher family has always vowed to keep the health of the racing legend private.

In January they released a rare statement and said “we are doing everything humanly possible to help him”.

The statement said: “You can be sure that he is in the very best of hands and that we are doing everything humanly possible to help him.

“Please understand we are following Michael’s wishes and keeping such a sensitive subject as health, in privacy.

“At the same time we say thank you very much for your friendship and wish you a healthy and happy 2019.”

The Documentary called ’Schumacher’ is set to be released on December 5.
