Apex Legends Season 2 release update as Respawn talk new legends plans

Respawn has revealed that they will be sharing more news on Apex Legends Season 2 very soon.

Having confirmed their release date plans for the upcoming Season, there is still plenty to find out about the big shift.

Fans already suspect that some kind of in-game event is being worked on that may have a link to the game’s Leviathans.

These creatures could be part of a new mode or something completely different, but it appears new content is being cooked up for Apex Legends Season 2.

And while Respawn is probably trying to save their best secrets for the start of Season 2, we do know that another update is coming soon.

This will include news on the meta changes being worked on for the new season and more information on the upgraded arsenal.

“Next week we’ll be talking a bit more about L-STAR and some of the meta changes coming in Season 2 so stay tuned for that,” a message from the Apex support team reveals.

The L-Star is an energy-based light machine gun which is being launched alongside new Legends character, Wattson.

“Natalie “Wattson” Paquette is a familiar face in the Apex Games, though for a different reason than most,” the character’s official bio reads.

“Daughter of the Games’ lead electrical engineer, she studied his manuals to stay close to him, and discovered her calling at a young age.

“Though she could be completely distracted one moment and hyper-focused the next, electricity grounded her – its ordered, predictable flow made sense in a way the rest of the world didn’t.”

There’s no been no word on if this will be accompanied by a new patch for the game on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

With Season 2 set to start in early July, it’s unclear whether Respawn is putting off the smaller updates until they have launched their new content.

And it follows news that Respawn has a rough long term plan in place for Apex Legends.

According to Hollywood Reporter’s Patrick Shanley, this includes plans for future content on all major platforms.

“Drew McCoy, project lead @Respawn, tells me the team has a “fuzzy” 3-4 year longterm plan for #ApexLegends future content rollout,” he posted on Twitter.

For now, fans are probably just interested in seeing how the rest of 2019 pans out for the Apex Legends Battle Royale experience.

Here are highlights on what we know is coming as part of Apex Legends Season 2 and the Battle Pass:

  • Level up via Daily and Weekly Challenges.
  • Time to Battle Pass level 100 should be significantly reduced.
  • Three additional Legendary skins added to the rewards track.
  • Three entirely new content categories replace badge and stat tracker rewards.
  • You’ll earn enough Crafting Metal rewards from the full reward track to craft a Legendary item, or whatever your heart desires.
