Xbox One news: Xbox Live free game UPDATE and new Preview release

Xbox Live Gold gamers can download new Free games this weekend for their Xbox One console.

It’s part of the official Free Play Days event from Microsoft, offering three titles to test out and play on Xbox One.

These new games are only available for a short length of time but contain the full game experience.

This means that they aren’t demos and you will be in servers with fully paid players.

The Xbox Live Gold games you can trial this week includes Fallout 76, The Division 2 and LEGO DC Super-Villains.

You may have already heard about Bethesda and Ubisoft games being available this weekend but may not have known about the surprise Lego offering.

The good news is that all three available to play until the early morning on Monday, June 17.

And the games are also currently available for purchase at a discount so you can continue playing while keeping your Gamerscore and achievements earned in-game during the event.

The new Lego adventure game was launched back in October 2018 and offers a unique way of experiencing the DC universe.

Not only can you go about in a new blocky world but you also get to dump hero persona and enjoy a more villainous route.

“For the first time, a LEGO game is giving you and your family the ability to play as a super-villain, unleashing mischievous antics and wreak havoc in an action-packed, hilarious story written in collaboration with DC Comics,” the official Xbox game description reads.

“The Justice League has disappeared, leaving Earth’s protection to their counterparts from a parallel universe, the “Justice Syndicate”, a new, strange group of wannabe superheroes with unclear intentions.

“Whether it’s Graffiti Spraying walls in Metropolis or using Fear Toxins to scare characters in Gotham City, super-villains have full reign to use any trick in their arsenal to stop the Justice Syndicate’s evil scheme.

“The Joker, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor, and others from the Injustice League won’t stand for second-best when it comes to villainy. Embrace your inner super-villain, as you battle opponents, solve puzzles, and overcome obstacles using menacing pranks and tactics experienced best from the unique perspective of the bad guys.”

And if a free trial isn’t your thing then you can always check out the latest Xbox Preview games currently in beta.

Much like with Steam Early Access, these games have launched in an unfinished state and can therefore usually be bought at a cheaper price.

They might also be missing content, contain bugs, or need extra balancing work that will come later via updates. Once the game is purchased, you are entitled to every update as the game moves to its final commercial release as well as the final version of the game when it is finished.

And the one of the latest to make its debut is Hunt: Showdown from Crytek. It’s described as a first-person PvP bounty hunting game with heavy PvE element which can make for a bit of a mouthful.

But at its core, Hunt Showdown is a tense shooter that pits you against both the map of enemies and your fellow players. The Xbox version currently includes two modes, Bounty Hunt, in which you and a friend can team up to hunt for clues and take down a big boss, or quickplay.

Bounty Hunt usually contains multiple teams and solo players trying to kill the boss, score the bounty, and extract without being eliminated by their human rivals. It makes for an intense ride, which can end in some sticky situations.

You recruit Bounty Hunters who are protected from death for a certain amount of time before a perma-death situation arises. Quick Play is another mode in which players start as a randomly created Hunter who must track down clues and connect with a “Well-Spring” to survive the game.

Only one Hunter can be saved, and there are no teams, with the Well-Spring ticking down throughout the game. This game mode allows you to collect interesting traits and weapons, so that you score great loot if you survive.

The game includes a free trial to enjoy when you first download and a reduced price of 24.99, due to it being in Game Preview. So for anyone looking for a new FPS challenge, Hunt: Showdown might be your choice of trial this week.
