Susanna Reid: ‘So ridiculous’ GMB host speaks out on love life after Piers Morgan remark

Susanna Reid, 48, addressed speculation about her love life after her Good Morning Britain co-host Piers Morgan, 54, appeared to suggest she was involved in a new romance after splitting from Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish, 53. The presenter got involved in the cheeky exchange with the Piers Morgan’s Life Stories star last month when he spotted her “perky” face during an episode of the ITV show. Piers told Susanna at the time: “You are very perky. That’s the happy face you give me when you’ve had no sleep.” In response, the brunette beauty quipped: “The reason I am laughing at that is because I literally went to bed at 7.30 last night.”

Unfortunately for Susanna, Piers persisted with his mischievous line of questioning, adding: “I’m not denying that at all.

“I don’t doubt the fact that you spent hours in bed is up for question. It’s what you were doing there.”

As a result, Susanna was keen to set the record straight about the awkward moment during an interview with the Daily Record.

The TV personality explained to the publication: “I’m single. The irony of that was I’d gone to bed at 7.30pm the night before and had a really good night’s sleep. It was so ridiculous.”

She continued: “But that’s Piers all over isn’t it? He infers that if you’re in a good mood there must be a reason for it.

“For me to be in a really good mood it means I’ve had a solid night’s sleep and come in feeling fresh and bouncy.”

Susanna then joked about her relationship with her outspoken GMB co-star, as she added: “Piers is a complete wind up and a total pain in the backside.

“He constantly teases me and says I protest too much when people joke that we’re an old married couple.”

The ITV favourite’s declaration about single life comes after she parted ways with her ex-boyfriend Steve in April after a ten-month romance.

Piers couldn’t resist quizzing Susanna about her break-up live on air after it hit the headlines.

The journalist took the opportunity to address the situation on the programme, as she replied: “Let’s not dwell. I’m fine, we’re fine, we’re very good friends.”

The star’s romance with the businessman was her first public relationship since she split from Dominic Cotton, whom she shares three children with.

The former couple separated in 2014 and are currently co-parenting their three children, Jack, Sam and Finn.

Susanna previously told The Sun: “We still get on so well, Dom is still such a hands-on dad and we really co-parent.

“So we live separately but together and happily in the same house.

“I’m not saying everybody can do it and I definitely think people are surprised that we can do it this way.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
