Rocketman deleted scene: You won’t BELIEVE who played Elvis Presley

Last month the Elton John biopic Rocketman hit cinemas, charting the star’s early life. And now it turns out a scene featuring Elvis, played by Rob Delaney was cut. Movie fans will probably know the 42-year-old actor best from playing ordinary guy superhero Peter. Speaking with BBC Radio 6 Music, Delaney revealed how they accidentally permanently dyed his hair black to play the King of Rock and Roll.

Delaney said: “I did shoot a couple of scenes in the film as a guy named Elvis Presley, who you may have heard of, and they even dyed my hair black for it.

“In the make-up trailer, they said, ‘Do you want the temporary dye or the permanent?’

“I was like, ‘temporary please,’ and they put in the permanent by mistake, so it was black for six months after.

“My hair is black in another movie because of playing Elvis in Rocketman, which got cut, which is very funny, but that’s just the way the ball bounces sometimes.”

He added: “It would’ve been a little too knowing…I’m not looking to set out to make a cinematic universe!”

Fletcher was roped in to direct the final two weeks of Bohemian Rhapsody after Bryan Singer went AWOL from the set.

Following the success of Elton John and Freddie Mercury’s biopics, perhaps an Elvis one is inevitable?

Rocketman is out now.
