WhatsApp users hit by infuriating bug and it desperately needs fixing

Some WhatsApp users are suffering from a horrible new bug which stops them using one of its most popular features.

The issue, which was spotted earlier this week, appears to be affecting fans of the service who enjoy making and receiving voice calls.

Those who are using an upcoming version of the app are seeing the message, “Call ended because there’s a problem with your phone’s microphone. Try restarting your phone and try again.

WABetainfo, who closely monitors WhatsApp updates, confirmed the problem is hitting users who have downloaded the latest Android beta of the app.

In a post on Twitter, WABetainfo said: “A lot of users are experiencing this bug in the latest Android beta (2.19.167).

“I hope to see a new beta with a fast fix for it soon.”

Some users have since responded to this post complaining that they have been hit by this frustrating bug.

One fan said: “I have this issue on a Galaxy S8+ running Android 9. It’s not related to using earphones, because it happens also without.”

And another added: “My WhatsApp stopped working completely with the last update.”

Beta versions are pushed out to users to find bugs like this before the update arrives on millions of phones.

However, with WhatsApp voice calls one of the most popular features of this service and with thousands already testing this update, the team behind the app will now be in a race to find a fix.

This latest bug isn’t the only piece of bad news that WhatsApp fans have face recently.

Adverts have been rumoured for a while and now WhatsApp looks set to finally bring these paid messaging to its app.

The Facebook-owned firm revealed the news during its annual Marking Summit in the Netherlands, with a rollout expected next year.

Photos of the way these new adverts will look have even been posted online with attendee Olivier Ponteville, giving fans a closer look at what’s to come.

Adverts in WhatsApp have been spoken about for a while but this is the first evidence that things are changing within the popular service.

The bad news is that it seems there’s nothing that can be done to stop this new feature from arriving within the app.

It seems almost certain that there will be no way to switch them off or hide these paid-for messages which may prove to be hugely irritating.

Expect more news and an official release of adverts within WhatsApp next year.
