Man Utd star Paul Pogba ready to go on STRIKE to force Real Madrid transfer

Pogba has been strongly linked with a move to the La Liga giants with Real boss Zinedine Zidane known to be a fan of the midfielder.

Pogba has struggled since returning to Manchester United from Juventus in 2016.

He has rarely lived up to the standards expected of him and was seen arguing with a fan towards the end of the season.

And with Pogba’s future in doubt, Spanish outlet ABC claim that the Frenchman is willing to go on strike and put in a transfer request to force through a move to the Bernabeu.

It’s claimed that playing for Real Madrid is Pogba’s greatest goal of his career and that he would be willing to “rebel” if United show stubbornness.

Plenty of Premier League stars have put in transfer requests previously.

Indeed, Xabi Alonso, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale all used the same tactic to get to Real Madrid in the past.

Pogba still has two years remaining on his Old Trafford contract while United have the option of extending the deal by a further 12 months.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was confident Pogba would remain at the club towards the end of the season.

“I think he will be here next season,” he said.

“Paul has done fantastic for us. We want him to do well.

“He is a leader in the dressing room.

“If I could guarantee I would say yes. You can’t guarantee but I think he will be.”

United could demand as much as €180million (£160m) for Pogba.

And former Real president Ramon Calderon believes the Red Devils hold all the cards.

“It’s not easy [for Real Madrid],” Calderon told Sky Sports.

“A player like that, Manchester United are not going to [let him] go without a lot of money. I know they have been talking about €170m.

“It’s an opportunity but Manchester United have to wait because the player has a contract until 2021.

“Knowing he is an important player who is young, and knowing that Zidane is continually asking for him, they can wait in the office for a lot of money in a suitcase.”
