Love Island 2019: Former islander exposes ‘secret cameras’ in places fans don’t know about

Since the arrival of Maura Higgins and Elma Pazar, the Love Island villa has been turned upside down and viewers have seen tears, tantrums and lots of flirting.

Each night, those watching at home tune into the best bits of footage caught from 24-hour rolling cameras, but what they don’t know is there are secret cameras in certain places.

Former Islander Marcel Somerville, who took part in the 2017 series of the reality dating show has let slip about a hidden camera that is placed in the villa.

During a conversation with Cosmopolitan UK he revealed a vital piece of “intel” for fans.

He said: “This is some intel for all of you people. In Love Island, there are private toilets, but the toilets still have cameras in them.

“[Producers] just have to be vigilant to make sure there’s nothing illegal going on in the villa.

“However, if you did need a moment [to] yourself, the toilet would be [the place to go]. [But] there would be someone seeing you doing what you’re doing!”

It comes after viewers are stopped from seeing certain scenes involving the islanders.

During the first three seasons of Love Island, viewers will remember how there was a smoking area within the villa, but following an extensive amount of complaints from viewers, producers decided that if a contestant wants to smoke, it won’t be shown on camera.

However, while the majority of action and gossip was divulged in that area, former contestant Eyal Booker revealed viewers don’t miss out on much.

“If you were smoking you had to smoke on your own,” he told Express.co.uk exclusively.

“There were still cameras out there and you were still mic’d up, just because they didn’t show the smoking. If there was still a situation in the smoking area then they would have shown it.”

Meanwhile, there is a chance Molly-Mae Hague is going to be the third contestant to leave the show.

Following Maura’s determination to win the heart of Tommy Fury, Molly-Mae who he is currently coupled up with is at risk.

In last night’s episode, Tommy explained why he liked Maura so much.

Speaking in the Beach Hut, he said: “Maura’s come in here, she’s been in here for a day, she’s already told me more than Molly-Mae’s told me in six [days].

“So basically, it is what it is, it’s a hard decision to make, because basically Molly-Mae and I have a really good connection, there’s no disputing that. But now, tables have turned. My head’s in bits.”

“Watching Maura and Tommy is obviously infuriating me,” Molly-Mae explained later that evening. “I’m just trying to sit there and bite my tongue.”

But at the end of the instalment, viewers saw Molly-Mae sit down with Amber Gill on the bean bags and receive a pep talk from the straight-talking, no nonsense Geordie.

After much persuasion, Molly-Mae sauntered over to where Tommy and Maura were sitting at the fire pit and interrupted. But what is she going to say to Maura?

Love Island airs Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2.
