Le Mans 24 Hours 2019 endurance race is taking place at the iconic circuit in France this weekend.

Fernando Alonso has the chance to become a world champion again by clinching the World Endurance Championship at the iconic Le Mans circuit.

The two-time F1 champion, who won Le Mans last year with Toyota, will be starting today’s race from second on the grid.

Alonso will racing alongside teammates Kazuki Nakajima and Sebastien Buemi.

After qualifying Alonso tweeted: “We will start second for the @24hoursoflemans thanks to a great job by everyone at the team securing first row on the grid.

“Now full focus on race day!”

In pole position is the sister Toyota being driven by Kamui Kobayashi, Jose Maria Lopez and Mike Conway.

Just behind the Toyotas in third position is the BR Engineering car being driven by Egor Orudzhev, Sergey Sirotkin and Stephane Sarrazin.
