O2 rivals EE and Vodafone with the launch of a very tempting Apple Watch deal

The Apple watch Series 4 was announced late last year with this device offering more power, a bigger display and thinner design.

Like its predecessor, this new wearable is also able to connect to a 4G network which means owners can still access messages, emails, calls and music without needing a phone in their pocket.

The first company to bring the Apple Watch with this cellular technology to the UK was EE with Vodafone also now selling this device on their network.

Now O2 customers can also add this award-winning device to their monthly plans with an official release being unveiled today.

To celebrate the launch of the Series 4 on O2, the firm is offering a deal which allows customers, who purchase Apple Watch on O2 between Friday 14 June and Wednesday 18 December, six months’ of free airtime.

Apple Watch Series 4 will be available to new and existing iPhone pay monthly users on custom plans, enabling customers to choose how much they want to pay upfront, with the ability to spread the remaining device cost between 3 and 36 months (in one-month increments) at 0% APR.

O2 says this means customers can pay as little as £14.50 per month for the first 6 months if they select Apple Watch Series 4 on a 36-month contract (£19.50 per month thereafter).

Speaking about the launch, Nina Bibby, Chief Marketing Officer of O2, said: “We’re delighted to be offering Apple Watch Series 4 on the UK’s favourite network. And thanks to custom plans, customers have the freedom to choose their upfront payment and contract length.

“By offering customers this additional flexibility we are making it even easier for them to get their hands on the latest tech at a price that suits their individual needs.”

O2 begins stocking the Apple Watch as this device has just received a big update from Apple.

The US technology firm rolled out some software changes in March to the latest Series 4 Watch which brings improved heart rate tracking and the ability to record an ECG (electrocardiogram) straight from your wrist.

This means users can then simply launch the ECG app and use the digital crown to perform the test.

As the user touches the watch, the circuit is completed and electrical signals across their heart are measured.

After 30 seconds, the heart rhythm is revealed with all recordings, their associated classifications and any noted symptoms then stored in the Health app on iPhone.

Users can even store a PDF of the reading which can then be shown to doctors for them to gain insights about a person’s heart rhythm and look for irregularities.

Along with the ECG reading, there is also another feature of this update which could help to spot life-threading atrial fibrillation (AFib).

As well as that update there’s more good news for Apple Watch owners with the US firm revealing its next watchOS upgrade will be coming later this year.

This new software will include extra watch faces, improved health and fitness plus extra apps including a calculator.

In watchOS 6, users will also get access to a new Noise app which monitors background sound levels via a real-time decibel meter.

If things get too loud then you can be alerted to stop any damage happening to your hearing.

The Apple Watch will be the only device that will allow access to this new monitor when the update arrives later this year.

Expect more news on an official release date in September.
