How Man Utd could look on first day of next season with five signings – Bale in, Pogba out

Manchester United ended the season in miserable form as early optimism under new manager Solskjaer gave way to a run of dreadful results.

The Red Devils secured just two wins from their final 13 matches across all competitions, highlighting the urgent need for shrewd investment over the summer.

Solskjaer is believed to have a transfer kitty in the region of £200million to spend revamping his squad, with the Norwegian expected to target a blend of youth and experience.

Keeping hold of David de Gea will be a top priority for the Old Trafford boss, although the Spanish stopper is still stalling over a new contract.

Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw should retain their spots in the starting XI while Scott McTominay enjoyed a breakthrough campaign and is expected to feature more regularly in midfield.

Meanwhile, Paul Pogba is attracting serious attention from Real Madrid and any move could free up funds to sign Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.

Adrien Rabiot is a free agent and would provide a solid replacement for Ander Herrera while Anthony Martial has it all to prove on the left wing after an inconsistent few years.

Marcus Rashford should continue to lead the line while there has been talk of an audacious loan move for Gareth Bale, although the signing of Daniel James from Swansea means there is now less pressure to acquire another winger.

Manchester United predicted line-up with summer signings

(4–3-3): De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Koulibaly, Shaw; Rabiot, McTominay, Fernandes; Bale, Martial, Rashford
