Coleen Rooney reveals ‘ups and downs’ as she speaks out on marriage to Wayne Rooney

Coleen Rooney, 33, and her childhood sweetheart, Wayne Rooney, 33, tied the knot in an idyllic wedding in Portofino, Italy in 2008. The pair celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary today, where Coleen admitted their marriage has been a “journey” of “highs and lows”. Taking to Instagram, the mother-of-four shared a black and white snap of the couple, in view of her 738,000 followers. She penned a heartfelt message: “11 years married!! Happy anniversary @waynerooney. It’s been a journey …Ups and downs, highs and lows..but you know what…I love you.”

Fans rushed to comment on the post and send their well wishes to the couple on their special day.

One person said: “A perfect marriage is just two imperfect people who refuse to give up on each other.”

Another person commented: “Happy anniversary it’s so nice to see people work through things instead of on to the next in this day and age when you love someone you love them unconditionally.”

While a third person added: “You know what, marriage has it’s ups and down, and that’s what makes it, enjoy.”

The former ex-England captain also took the opportunity to praise his wife on their wedding anniversary.

In view of his 13.9 million followers, he shared a heartwarming snap from their wedding day as he gushed over the WAG star.

He wrote: “Happy Anniversary @coleen_rooney. 11 years today! Love you girl.”

Childhood sweethearts, Wayne and Coleen, met at school when they were 12, before they started dating after they finished school at 16.

They tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in Italy, with their wedding said to have cost an estimated £5 million.

The couple share four sons, Kai, nine, Klay, six, Kit, three, and Cass, 15 months.

The family have recently moved to Washington as Wayne plays for the US football team D.C United.

Speaking about their marriage last year, Coleen said: “I want to try and continue our marriage and live as a family.

“I’m not saying everything is fine and forgotten about, but we’re as good as we can be at this point.

“We’ll have date nights, we go to the cinema, it will depend on what we’ve got on throughout the week. I’ve got a good support network around me, so we do get time to ourselves.”

Praising her husband’s parenting skills, she added: “Wayne’s really good with the kids.

“He’s good at getting them all to bed as well, he’s really good with the bedtime routine.”
