Boxing news: Massive Anthony Joshua prediction, Tyson Fury focused, Dillian Whyte backed

Anthony Joshua prediction from Bob Arum

Top Rank Boxing CEO Bob Arum reckons Anthony Joshua won’t be the same fighter after his devastating stoppage loss to Andy Ruiz Jr.

“He was in with a lot of guys who couldn’t spell fight, and he beat them, but he couldn’t knock them out,” Arum told the Daily Telegraph.

“The fact he knocked out a fighter like Joshua, who I had seen on television and in person against Joseph Parker, it shocked me.

“Andy Ruiz is a lovely guy, but he’s no Wladimir Klitschko. If Joshua was able to survive Klitschko, who can punch, and knock him out, how the hell does Ruiz beat him?

“Unless it wasn’t Joshua in the ring. Now that’s something that can happen.

“Maybe he didn’t train hard enough. Maybe he suffered an injury. When something like this happens, there may never be that Joshua again.”

Tyson Fury fully focused

Tyson Fury has insisted he’s not overlooking Tom Schwarz this weekend, especially following Joshua’s upset loss to Ruiz Jr.

“As we saw last week, you can’t overlook anybody,” Fury said. “This is heavyweight boxing and Tom Schwarz knows if he beats Tyson Fury, then he’s set for life.

“He becomes a multimillionaire, he gets to headline big shows and all his dreams come true.

“But you’re talking to a king. I’ll figure him out within the first five seconds of the fight. Because that’s what I do. Within five seconds I’ll know exactly what to do with him.”

Frank Bruno calls for Dillian Whyte title shot

Former WBC heavyweight champion and British boxing legend Frank Bruno has urged the organisation to give Dillian Whyte his long-awaited shot at the title, which is currently in the possession of Deontay Wilder.

“His next opponent is a serious, serious guy,” Bruno told Sky Sports.

“But everyone’s been ducking him and I think, once he gets past that, I think the WBC has got to give him what he deserves.”
