Stacey Dooley shares 'important' message as she speaks out on new move

The presenter, 32, revealed she was filming a brand new documentary in Nigeria, examining the effect of conflict there and militant Islamic group Boko Haram. Stacey Dooley shared a video of herself speaking about the upcoming programme, along with the caption: “Tens of thousands dead and around 2.4 million people displaced. New doc for @bbcthree.” In the clip, the Strictly Come Dancing winner told her 728,000 Instagram followers: “I am in the north east of Nigeria at the moment. We are making a documentary – we’re looking at the 10-year conflict and how this part of the world has reacted to the insurgency, these militant groups.

“So, ISWAP [Islamic State’s West Africa Province] and Boko Haram,” Stacey explained.

“We’re looking at how Boka Haram tend to use young females as suicide bombers.

“We’re looking at how the military are responding.

“It’s been a real eye-opener, I’ve learned so much,” she continued. “I can’t wait for you all to watch it.

“I think it’s really important that these issues are tackled.”

Stacey went on to say she would let fans know when she was recording the voiceover for the documentary and when she knew it’s release date.

The author and presenter is known for fronting her BBC series Stacey Dooley Investigates and recently finished filming a handful of new documentaries for BBC Three, including one which looks at bounty hunters and another which examines the arms industry.

Last year, she joined the line-up on Strictly Come Dancing and was paired with professional dancer Kevin Clifton, 36.

The duo made it all the way to the final and Stacey took Kevin to his first ever Glitterball trophy win when they were crowned champions in December.

In April, her now ex-boyfriend Sam Tucknott, 30, revealed they had broken up and claimed she had started a romance with Kevin.

The Grimsby-born dancer previously confirmed his split from his wife Karen Clifton, 37, in March 2018.

Yesterday, reports emerged claiming Kevin Clifton had cut ties with Karen amid his “romance” with Stacey Dooley.

According to The Sun, he is no longer acting as a director of the Cliftons Dance Academy, which he and Karen set up together.

“Karen has long been distancing herself from Kevin after his romance with Stacey went public,” a source told the publication.

“Now that Kevin has left the business as a director, she is free to move on from him professionally.”

The publication reported Karen will now be in charge of the company on her own.

Express.co.uk has contacted representatives for both Kevin Clifton and Karen Clifton asking for comment.
