Coronation Street spoilers: Michelle Connor kills Robert Preston in EXPLOSIVE exit twist?

Michelle (played by Kym Marsh) called it a day with Robert (Tristan Gemmill) earlier this year on Coronation Street when the mother of three admitted she didn’t want any more children after her son, Ruairi McDonald, was stillborn.

Since then, the pair have been civil with one another and, in the coming weeks, both characters will be leaving the ITV soap after Kym, 42, and Tristan, 52, announced their exits earlier this year.

In upcoming episodes, Michelle will overhear Robert telling Bistro waiter Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) he no longer has any desire for a baby as his love for his ex is far stronger after witnessing the former barmaid go on a date with newcomer Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell).

The pair decide to give their relationship another go when Michelle confronts Robert about what she heard and it will appear things are going to be plain sailing but it’s not long before the silver-haired character makes an excuse to rush off.

Although it’s not yet been revealed why Robert will act so secretive, there have been nods to the Bistro owner acting shady, most recently when he arrived at a hotel all suited and booted after telling Michelle he was going for a business meeting.

It has been reported by sources Robert is hiding a secret relationship with none other than Vicky Jefferies (Kerri Quinn), the mother of troublesome Tyler Jefferies (Will Barnett), who got teenager Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) pregnant earlier this year.

Speaking of Robert’s shady behaviour, Coronation Street star Kym said Michelle won’t pick up on anything suspicious in the first instance.

“Michelle’s a very honest person. She’s not done many things in her life that are dishonest, unless it’s to protect her family, which is maybe why it’s not on her radar.”

If Michelle were to discover another woman was the reason Robert had been acting so mysteriously, Kym said: “She would never forgive Robert for that in a million years.

“She’s been there with Steve and she wouldn’t put up with it again, Robert would be a goner,” the actress remarked, but could this be a subtle hint as to how the two characters will end up bidding farewell to Weatherfield?

Not only might Michelle discover Robert has been romancing another woman during their time apart, she could be rocked by the discovery her partner is expecting a baby in the lead up to a surprise wedding, reports claim.

A source told The Sun: “Vicky reveals she is pregnant with his baby, which poses a real dilemma for him as he has always wanted to be a father.

“That leaves him with a huge decision over whether he stays with Michelle, the woman he loves but who doesn’t want a baby, or leaves her to guarantee a new life as a father.

“It results in Michelle leaving the cobbles for good — but not before the inevitable whirlwind of drama has played out.”

Could it be Michelle will resort to deadly measures to ensure she gets revenge on Robert for the ultimate betrayal, killing him and finding herself behind bars for years to come?

Michelle hasn’t shown any signs of wanting to committ murder in the past, but has helped her son Ali Neeson (James Burrows) to conceal the secret he killed drug lord Ronan Truman (Alan McKenna), so could it now be her turn to take a life?

Elsewhere on the cobbles, Coronation Street stalwart Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden) said farewell to his beloved friends in last night’s episode as he went off to begin a new life with Freda Burgess (Ali Briggs).

Viewers took to Twitter after Norris left the cobbles in a black cab, with one posting: “Aww gonna miss Norris. Thank you Malcolm for the laughs.”

Another added: “The cobbles won’t be the same without Norris,” as a heartbroken Mary Taylor (Patti Claire) wailed while the taxi drove away.

However, fans need not fear as there are plans to bring back the Weatherfield gossip following actor Malcolm Hebden’s, 29, heart attack at the end of 2017.

Coronation Street continues Monday at 7.30pm on ITV.
