Russia launches supersonic interceptor missiles to take on Western weapons – SHOCK VIDEO

The Russian Defence Ministry has released frightening footage of the “successful” launch of its new supersonic interceptive missile. A shocking video shows the missile being transported on a lorry and prepared ahead of its launch, before being blasted from the training range. The launch can be seen from six different angles, with the missile shooting upwards and exploding into a fireball as it makes a loud bang. The rocket launch took place from Sary-Shagan training range in Kazakhstan.

The Kremlin declined to name the rocket system but it is believed to be the PRS-1M interceptor missile, which protects Moscow and other strategic sites from incoming enemy missiles.

State-run agency TASS indicated the tests were linked to earlier trials at the same training range last year, which involved the upgraded PRS-1M interceptor missile.

The footage was released by the Defence Ministry-run Zvezda television channel.

The Ministry confirmed to TASS: “Another test-launch of a new Russian interceptor missile was successfully conducted.

“After a series of trials, the new interceptor missile confirmed its characteristics and successfully completed the task by striking an assigned target with precision.”

According to gazeta.ru, a popular Russian news site based in Moscow, the state-of-the-art missile is an upgraded version of the older 53T6.

This missile flew “several times faster than a bullet and accelerated within seconds to 3km per second, making it the world’s fastest missile”.

Analysing the PRS-1M, gazeta.ru reported: “The new product’s kill zone is practically one and a half times greater in terms of altitude and range.

“Interception of enemy ICBM warheads is now assured at an altitude substantially higher than 50 km (31 miles).

“The missile carries a nuclear warhead of several kilotons.”

The news comes after Russia’s President Vladimir Putin tested the MiG-31 fighter jet armed with the hypersonic Kinzhal, also known as the ‘dagger’ missile.

The missile was developed by the Russian Defence Ministry for use by the Russian Aerospace Forces.
