The One Show hosts Matt Baker and Emma Willis were left stunned when the new Top Gear hosts arrived at the studio but struggled to get out of their car.
Matt began: “Tonight’s guests aren’t actually in the studio yet but the good news is they are just pulling up outside now.
“Let’s have a look, there they are now.”
Emma added: “Uh-oh, here comes trouble.”
“I’m sensing anything could happen. That was a very solid brake,” Matt continued, commentating the Top Gear presenters’ arrival.
“It’s only the all new presenting team of the biggest car show on the planet.”
But then disaster struck as Matt exclaimed: “Paddy is stuck! He can’t get out!”
Freddie and Chris could be seen heading to Paddy’s car door to assist him in getting out of the red vehicle.
As Freddie reached into the car, Matt explained: “They’ve got the child locks on.”
Just as things looked as though they were going smoothly, Paddy and Freddie appeared to miss their cue to enter the studio.
As Emma shouted out their names out, the trio failed to make an appearance and the camera showed them hiding behind their photos.
“Are we on? We didn’t even know,” Paddy shouted as he finally emerged from behind his photo. “We didn’t have a clue, we were having a lovely time behind those screens.”
Jumping straight into addressing Paddy’s gaffe trying to get out of the car, Matt asked: “What happened? Did you have the child lock on?”
“Oh no, I just naturally sit there until they open the door for me,” Paddy replied.
But as he went to recline on the iconic green sofa, he fell backwards as there was no backrest where he was sitting.
“The good thing is, it isn’t live,” he joked making light of the situation.
Paddy went on to reveal he was convinced to take on the presenting role by his wife Christine.
“When I was first told I got the job, genuinely I’ve got young children at home and I was sat with my wife and I was worried about the travelling,” he explained.
“She said, ‘Look, you’re going to go all around the world and you’re going to see places you’ve never seen before and you’re going to have all these memories.’
“And I thought, ‘Yeah, I’m going to go for it.’”
