Melania Trump makes SILENT STATEMENT with dress from pro-abortion fashion label

America is in the middle of a mass legislative change, with the state of Alabama being the strictest by making abortion illegal in almost all cases except rape and incest. Punishment for abortion of a child can carry a prison sentence of up to 99 years in federal prison. The only exception will be in cases when a woman’s health is at serious risk.

Since the law was passed, other states have followed by passing restrictive bans on the legal amount of time in which a woman can have an abortion.

But ahead of President Donald Trump’s official state visit to the UK, the first lady was seen to be wearing a subtle polticial statement as the couple made their way to Air Force One for their flight to the UK.

Melania wore a white Gucci mid-dress with a London-inspired print as she made her way to London, which costs around £3,475 ($4,400).

But just days earlier, the Italian fashion design house had showed off its 2020 cruise collection at a show in Rome – with the show heavy in political messages.

Gucci’s latest collection was presented with a pro-choice abortion rights message.

Models made their way down the runway with gags around their mouths, while one model wore a blazer sporting the slogan “My Body My Choice” on the back.

Another piece from the collection featured a sparkling uterus motif, whilst also giving nods to gender equality movement Chime for Change’s logo.

In another political message, one of jumper featured the numbers 22.051978.

It is a tribute to the date in which abortion in Italy became legal.

The First Lady’s covert political message comes after husband Donald made his feelings on pro-choice clear.

Mr Trump recently said: “We have come very far in the last two years with 105 wonderful new federal judges (many more to come), two great new supreme court justices and a whole new and positive attitude about the right to life.”

After Alabama passed state law, other states including Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota and Ohio, have passed legislation that restricts a woman’s right to have an abortion.

South Carolina is halfway towards passing a “fetal heartbeat” law, while states of Maryland, Minnesota, Texas and West Virginia are also considering abortion restrictions.

US vice-president Mike Pence has also repeated the President’s comments that pro-choice activists support “infanticide” – or the killing of new-born babies.
