Darwin shooting: Four killed in northern Australia

At least four people have been shot dead after a gunman opened fire in Darwin, northern Australia, police say.

They responded to an “active shooter situation” at about 18:00 local time on Tuesday (08:30 GMT), and one man has since been arrested.

An ABC reporter at the scene said the gunman entered a motel with a shotgun.

Reports said one woman was shot multiple times in the legs. Police say they do not believe there are any other suspects.

The gunman fled the scene of the shootings in the suburb of Woolner, police said, before being arrested.

According to ABC News reporter Stephanie Zillman, there are multiple crime scenes.

A number of people are also believed to be injured.
