Westlife LIVE REVIEW: Boyband surprise fans with Queen classics on hit comeback tour

There was barely a spare seat in the house as the much-loved Irish boyband took to the stage at Manchester Arena on their massive comeback tour, performing all of their classic hits as well as a few surprises.

The main surprise of the evening came in the form of an epic Queen medley.

This could have been a little shorter, but there’s no denying the group managed to nail tracks such as We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions and Bohemian Rhapsody, all while wearing Freddie Mercury-style leather ensembles.

Not only were the band’s vocals on point, they also proved the chemistry is definitely still there after all these years – with Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan and Mark Feehily having a joke with the crowd and each other between songs.

The four-piece, formerly five before Brian McFadden left in 2004, definitely took fans on a trip down memory lane with the almost two hour setlist, with the crowd knowing all the lyrics to the likes of What About Now, My Love, Swear It Again and Uptown Girl.

Other highlights included If I Let You Go, which they sang as some of their memorable career moments played in the background; What Makes a Man, and, of course, Flying Without Wings.

Arguably the most emotional moment of the night, however, went to You Raise Me Up, which the group dedicated to those who were affected by the Manchester Arena terror attack two years ago.

With 14 number ones and years of selling out arenas under their belt, it’s safe to say this is a band that won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
