Virgin Media price cut as more changes announced for TV and broadband customers

Virgin Media is back with another discount and some big new changes to its broadband and TV bundles.

The firm has just revealed the news of this update today with the launch of something it is calling Oomph.

These bundles now replace the existing broadband and TV packages that were available to new and existing customers.

Virgin Media says that its Oomph packages offer “outstanding value for customers” with broadband that’s faster than its standard cable packages and a 4G mobile SIM that’s faster on average than Vodafone, 02, Three and Sky.

There’s currently four Oomph options to choose from which include the Big Bundle, Big Bundle + Drama, Bigger Bundle and Ultimate Oomph Bundle.

With the Ultimate Oomph bundle, customers get over 280 channels including Sky Sports and BT Sports plus there’s very fast broadband included.

In fact, this subscription features average download speeds of 516Mbps – seven times faster than BT and Sky – as well as a mobile SIM with unlimited data, texts and calls.

This ultimate package costs a rather hefty £99 but there is a cheaper option if you think that sounds a bit rich.

Virgin has just announced that it is offering the new Big Bundle for just £29 per month with saves a total of over £100 off the usual 12-month price.

The Big Bundle includes 110 channels along with average broadband speeds of 108Mbps plus there’s Talk Weekends thrown in as well.

Along with the new bundles and discount, Virgin Media is also launching a new service aimed at always keeps customers connected.

From today, users with combined ultrafast broadband and mobile bundles will receive unlimited 4G mobile data if they experience an issue that results in a loss of broadband connectivity.

The data boost will be available for seven days for all Virgin Mobile SIMs registered on a customer’s account so everyone in the home can stay online and up-to-date while an engineer fixes the problem.

Speaking about the new features, Jeff Dodds, Managing Director of Virgin Media, said: “We know how important it is for our customers to stay connected and that’s why Virgin Media’s new service promise offers peace of mind, no matter what happens.

“It’s a simple, transparent and straight-up commitment to our customers that we’ll keep them online with superfast unlimited 4G mobile data if they experience an issue with their broadband, plus they have the option of a next-day engineer appointment to get things fixed.

“Our service promise is at the heart of our un-limiting Oomph bundle line-up which offers our customers an unrivalled connected entertainment experience in and out of the home – at great value.”
