Trump's 12-vehicle motorcade with 'Beast' limousine brings London BP station to standstill

The President’s car was spotted at a BP station near Regent’s Park on Saturday,  just days before Mr Trump landed in the UK to begin a three-day state visit. The car was joined by another from the President’s fleet as police shut down roads until the tank was full.

The President used helicopter Marine One to fly from Stansted Airport to the Ambassador’s home at Winfield House in Regents Park. He also used the helicopter to fly to the Queen’s residence at Buckingham Palace on Monday morning, but the Beast was called into action to transport Mr Trump and wife Melania to Westminster Abbey later in the day.

The four-tonne machine can resist armour piercing bullets, chemical attacks and bombs after being equipped with five layers of glass and polycarbonate.

Mr Trump’s vehicle has a direct phone line to the Vice President and the Pentagon as well as bags of his RH negative blood-type onboard.

The car will travel alongside a team of 20 vehicles and is just part of an estimated £25 million security effort that has put parts of the capital into lockdown.

Hundreds of police officers took position across Mr Trump’s intended locations while an eight-foot high steel fence has been erected outside the building the President will stay at in Regents Park.

Mr Trump’s official welcome was held in the grounds of Buckingham Palace rather than the traditional location of Horse Guards Parade due to security concerns as thousands of protestors are set to descend upon London.

250,000 protestors are expected tomorrow, while the famous baby blimp, which made his debut when Mr Trump visited the UK last June, has been floating above Westminster throughout the afternoon.

The President was greeted by The Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall at Buckingham Palace this morning as members of the Royal Family showed off valuable items from the Royal Collection.

The Queen will host a state banquet for the US leader tonight before Mr Trump meets with Prime Minister Theresa May and business leaders at St James Palace tomorrow.
