PS4 fans face an extra long wait for one of the system’s big new exclusives to launch.
Ghosts of Tsushima could suffer the same fate as The Last of Us 2 and Cyberpunk 2077, which are both tipped to launch in 2020.
That’s according to industry insider Jason Schreier, who told Twitter followers to expect Ghosts of Tsushima next year.
One Twitter user commented on the potential launch lineup for the first half of 2020.
Twitter user Hunny said: “So we could possibly be getting (at least) Cyberpunk, TLOU2, Ghost of Tsushima, GRR Martin Fromsoft game, 1-2 Ubisoft AAA games and FF7 Remake part 1 in 1st half of next year? Hmm…”
Seemingly confirming plans for an early 2020 Ghosts of Tsushima launch, Schreier replied: “Based on what I’ve heard, yes to all of those. 2020 gonna be wild.”
But it’s bad news for fans ahead of this year’s E3 gaming expo, as fans seemingly have to wait longer for this hotly anticipated release.
Schreier previously said that The Last of Us 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 had been pushed back until early 2020.
Even worse is that The Last of Us 2 was originally said to be pencilled in for a November release.
“Looks like Death Stranding is about to get announced for a November release,” he said before last week’s Death Stranding reveal. “The Last of Us 2 was also planned for fall 2019 but I actually just heard it got bumped to early 2020, possibly February?
“Either way, wild final year for PS4.”
As for Cyberpunk 2077, Schreier said there was no chance of a 2019 launch for the action RPG.
Addressing the rumour of a 2019 launch for Cyberpunk 2077, he said: “Idk where you saw that rumor but Cyberpunk is absolutely not coming out this year.”
In a follow-up tweet, Schreier would once again suggest that the game will launch in 2020, but not without giving fans fresh hope of a 2019 release date.
“This has gotten a lot of Reddit attention so some clarity,” he said. “I’ve heard from three sources that Cyberpunk was aiming for 2019, but belief around the studio was that it was an unrealistic target.
“I expect first half 2020 or maybe even an E3 announcement of 2019, then a delay to 2020.”
