Xbox One news: Xbox Live Free Game update following shock PS4 and PS Plus E3 news

Xbox Live Gold gamers can download new Free games for their Xbox One consoles this weekend, alongside a few other prized freebies.

If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to get back into Minecraft, the launch of the Deep Sea Mash-Up free weekend could be just what you need.

Announced by Microsoft earlier this week, fans can add a brand new map to their collection in just a few short steps.

By logging into your Microsoft account and playing Minecraft at any point until June 3rd 6:59AM UTC, you will claim the Deep Sea Mash-up Pack.

This will be a free download on your Xbox One, with one map per person available to claim.

The Minecraft Deep Sea Mash-Up Pack includes ten Deep Sea skins and “an ocean full of strangely beautiful creatures.

“Designed to be a massive underwater world, it contains brand new places to explore, including an ancient citadel.”

Xbox One gamers also have the choice of downloading two free games at no extra charge today, although an Xbox Live Gold account may also be required.

Games with Gold June 2019 was recently launched by Microsoft and includes an interesting mix of titles.

From now until June 30, Xbox One gamers with a Gold subscription can claim EA Sports NHL 19, with Rivals of Aether launching on June 16.

There is also the Xbox 360’s Portal: Still Alive that can be added to your account until the above date.

This will be followed by Earth Defense Force 2017, where players must defeat the Ravager armada, as well as swarms of enemies, some 20 stories tall, using your reconnaissance, infantry, and special ops forces.

Other free to play titles available to download today include Dauntless, World of Warships: Legends, Apex Legends and Fortnite.

Another option is Minion Masters, one of the latest free-to-play titles launched on the Xbox Game Store, offering a fast-paced strategy-brawler.

It follows news of a possible surprise launch during E3 2019 that will be exclusive to the PS4’s PS Plus subscription service.

Just a rumour, for now, reports in May claimed that a Final Fantasy 7 Remake demo would be made available to those PS4 gamers who have a PS Plus subscription.

The demo would be available to download after E3 2019 ends and would also be playable on the Expo show floor. If this does prove true, it would be a huge coup for PlayStation during the E3 showcase.

Sony isn’t attending this year’s E3, but it would no doubt have a good chance of stealing headlines if a new FF7 Remake demo was launched during it.

Meanwhile, Microsoft may well have their own exclusive Xbox Live Gold reveals to make during their conference next weekend. It was recently announced that the Xbox Game Pass is coming to the PC platform, with more news being revealed during E3.

“Xbox Game Pass for PC will give players unlimited access to a curated library of over 100 high-quality PC games on Windows 10, from well-known PC game developers and publishers such as Bethesda, Deep Silver, Devolver Digital, Paradox Interactive, SEGA, and more,” a message from Microsoft confirms.

“And just as we committed on the console, it is our intent to include new games from Xbox Game Studios in Xbox Game Pass for PC the same day as their global release, including titles from newly acquired studios like Obsidian and inXile.

“We’re working with over 75 developers and publishers to bring PC content to the service, and we’ll ensure the library remains curated and full of great PC titles across a variety of genres, with new games added every month.

“Xbox Game Pass for PC members will also receive discounts in the Microsoft Store on Windows of up to 20% on games currently in the library and up to 10% off related game DLC and add-ons.”
