19:45 UPDATE: Fernandes reveals favoured club

Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool transfer target Bruno Fernandes has revealed his favourite Premier League club.

“I like Liverpool a lot more [than Man City]. It’s a more direct [style of play], more offensive, maybe less organised, but more intense football,” he said.

“City, without the ball, has the intensity of the eleven, and can in a moment of pressure put the [opposing] team in a corner and end up stealing the ball.

“In Liverpool they are more individual players, especially in the midfield, usually playing three very aggressive players and recovering the ball.”

18:00 UPDATE Alisson pays back fee

Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg believes goalkeeper Alisson has paid back his fee by helping the club win the Champions League.

“It is unbelievable the way he stayed calm in the difficult situations and the saves he makes, he takes the team through the pressure moments,” Achterberg said.

“He’s done it in a few games: Napoli to get to the knockout round, Barcelona to get to the final. What can you say?

“Decision-making you cannot train, you train and try to prepare but what he does is so unbelievable in his first year in the UK.

“We bought an expensive goalie but he paid it back with the trophy, he had a big hand in it anyway.”

The Times also report that James Rodriguez could be offered to United having spent the last two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich.

France left-back Theo Hernandez and goalkeeper Keylor Navas are also believed to be options. The fifth choice swap would reportedly be Isco though it’s claimed that Zidane would rather keep the midfielder.

15:15 UPDATE: Man Utd chief slammed

Louis van Gaal seems to think Manchester United do not have the right man in charge when it comes to negotiating transfers.

“At Bayern [Munich], the people in charge are football men. I always appreciated that,” Van Gaal said.

“At Manchester United, on the other hand, Ed Woodward was installed as CEO — somebody with zero understanding of football who was previously an investment banker.

“It cannot be a good thing when a club is run solely from a commercially-driven perspective.”

12:25 UPDATE: Arsenal transfer kitty

Arsenal insiders have leaked how big a transfer budget will be available to Unai Emery, claims former Premier League ace Michael Gray.

“From what I’ve heard, I believe that Arsenal have got £70m to spend in the summer, which they spent last summer,” Gray said.

“Now, I don’t know if that means that players have got to leave so they get more funds to bring in different players.

“But if Emery really wants to stamp his authority on that squad of players, he’s got to freshen it up and he’s got to do it his way.”
