Snapchat DOWN: Latest updates on why Snapchat is not working

Snapchat is down tonight for many users around the globe, who have been left in the dark on why the service is not working.

The latest update from the Snapchat support team reads: “We’re aware of an issue preventing some Snapchatters from using the app Hang tight!”

This was posted hours ago and has yet to be given a further update on why issues persist for some.

From what has been shared by other companies, it appears that a recent Google Cloud outage has caused a lot of problems tonight.

The Google Cloud provides support for apps like YouTube and Snapchat, meaning that tonight’s outage is mostly attached to this other ongoing issue.

Here’s what Google told The Verge about today’s outage, revealing that “high levels of network congestion in the eastern USA” caused the issues.

Another statement from Google adds: “We are investigating an issue with Google Compute Engine. The issue is related to a larger network issue.

“We are experiencing high levels of network congestion in the eastern USA, affecting multiple services in Google Cloud, GSuite and YouTube.

“Users may see slow performance or intermittent errors.”

“We believe we have identified the root cause of the congestion and expect to a return to normal service shortly.”

The good news is that tonight’s Google Cloud issues are dropping rapidly and should be solved very soon.

And that means that after Snapchat sorts out its own server traffic demands, we may see a return to normal services very soon.

It should be noted that there is currently no ETA provided by Snapchat on how long tonight’s outage may last.

We have also not been given a complete explanation of today’s problems with Snapchat from the Facebook-owned company.

Users have experienced major issues on the applications, which also include programmes Gmail, Discord, Nest and Google Analytics.

The tech giant has claimed to have identified the issue and was attempting to restore services.

The issues have reportedly affected large parts of east and west America, but problems have also been highlighted throughout the UK.
