Red Dead Redemption 2 UPDATE: Red Dead Online news and Rockstar E3 rumours

A new Red Dead Redemption 2 Online update is out now on PS4 and Xbox One, offering some great bonuses to fans this weekend.

Anyone hungry for a new challenge can take on the Wild Animal Kills event, available in Red Dead Online.

This new Free Roam Event is the latest content update which allows gamers to pit themselves against other sportsmen, without the trolling factor.

Points are awarded based on the size of the animal, with small animals worth one point, medium size worth two, and large animals worth three.

Bigger and better prizes will emerge as the mode unfolds and it’s not the only new way to level up.

Red Dead 2 gamers can also earn bonus Cash and Gold in specific missions from A Land of Opportunities.

This weekend, new players will earn a bonus RDO$50 for completing the first mission, RDO$75 for completing Kill Them, Each and Every One; and a bonus 10 Gold Bars for completing Destroyed by Grief.

But this is small-fry compared to the 2-Step Verification bonus available right now, which awards 10 Gold Bars for Red Dead Online and GTA$500,000 in GTA Online.

This week’s Red Dead Redemption 2 update added plenty of new content to enjoy, but fans are now looking past the small drops and eyeing the upcoming Summer expansion.

This has already been confirmed as including new roles, which will serve as career paths for online characters.

Choosing between being a bounty hunter; a collector; or a trader will be tough but sounds like the game’s first big unique package.

“Players will have the option to focus on a specific role to advance quickly and unlock each role’s unique attributes, or simultaneously progress across multiple roles as you play naturally to create your own unique character and path through the frontier,” Rockstar Games confirms.

But when will we get to see all this new stuff arrive? It doesn’t look like it will be during E3 2019.

While Rockstar doesn’t usually attend the big LA expo, they do like to drop significant updates during it.

But from the timing and rough schedule provided by Rockstar, it seems more likely that this will be for GTA Online.

There is a chance that something special is being lined up for Red Dead Online, but it probably won’t be the summer expansion.

July 2019 seems a safer bet for this new multiplayer DLC to drop and would help drive the positive momentum created by the Spring update.

Another big summer rumour is that Rockstar Games will announce the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC port.

Various bits of evidence have been found to support the idea of Red Dead Online heading to Steam, although nothing has been leaked so far that provides a timeframe.

And while it would be a fantastic combo to get a big Summer DLC expansion and news of a Red Dead 2 PC release at the same time, it’s not something that Rockstar is known for.

Just because E3 seems like the perfect time to drop such news, even if it was only through Twitter and social media, it will all depend on internal schedules.

Timing wise, it still seems a little early for a PC release to be announced, but until Rockstar Games share plans for their next game, we shall have to take all the latest rumours with a big pinch of salt.
