Man Utd set David De Gea transfer fee for PSG – but insiders have other expectations

Manchester United star De Gea’s contract expires next summer and, with just a year of his deal to go, PSG are eager to snap him up.

The Spain international has been one of the club’s best players since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, helping the club win the FA Cup, EFL Cup and Europa League during that time.

Manchester United are eager to keep De Gea, who has demanded the same blockbuster salary as Alexis Sanchez to stay at Old Trafford.

Ed Woodward has spent the last few months trying to get the 28-year-old to sign on the dotted line – but to no avail.

And The Sun say United have slapped a huge £75m price tag on their star performer.

However, club insiders believe that may drop to £60m if his future remains uncertain by the end of the transfer window.

De Gea, though, may choose to sit tight and wait.

The United star knows he will make a fortune if he stays at the club for one more year before jumping ship to PSG for free.

And The Sun say that means the Red Devils could end up paying him £30m to leave the club this year.

United have been linked with several players should De Gea choose to leave Old Trafford behind.

Jasper Cillessen, of Barcelona, is back on their radar four years after he was tracked by former United manager Louis van Gaal.

AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma is also admired.

And links to Atletico Madrid shot-stopper Jan Oblak are also lingering, despite the Slovenia international signing a new contract at the club last month.

Meanwhile, former Premier League star David Seaman believes United must do all they can to keep De Gea.

“They’ve definitely got to keep him,” Seaman told talkSPORT.

“Alright, he’s made a few mistakes, but he’s still the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.

“Ederson is running him close, I’d say he has been the best this season, and Alisson has been really good as well.

“But over the years De Gea has been brilliant, so you don’t want players of that quality leaving your club.”
