Kawhi Leonard to Lakers: NBA insider has made it clear what he will do in free agency

It’s just under a month until some of the league’s best players will become free agents.

And Leonard will be one of the biggest stars attracting interest from around the league.

The Raptors have had a full season to make their pitch to the 27-year-old, just like the Oklahoma City Thunder did with Paul George.

And he has already written himself into Toronto folklore by leading them to their first NBA Finals.

Whether or not he can go one better and win the NBA championship remains to be seen, but Toronto will be doing their best to convince him to re-sign with them.

However, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne doesn’t think it is likely Leonard will opt to remain with the Raptors.

Instead, she believes it will be a straight battle between the Lakers and Clippers for his services.

“If the Raptors win this, it’ll be hard for Kawhi to leave,” Shelburne said on ESPN radio.

“I still think he does, I know there’s like this flickering hope that he would stay regardless because he does enjoy Canada.

“I just think the guy has been pretty clear.

“He wants to be back home in California.

“He has a house there which he has wanted the whole time.

“He wanted that before anything went south with the Spurs.

“This is a pretty consistent desire.

“It’s not like Paul George, where like Paul George, he’s from Palmdale but he likes fishing and that kind of a lifestyle. That’s very Oklahoma.”
